| A nice and rare Chinese flambe glazed porcelain fish jar, dated AD1863. It has a perfect flattened globular shape raised on three feet. The outside is covered completely in a glossy jun-type glaze of a brilliant orange red tone mottled with brown spots and the inside a white glaze mottled with brown spots. The base was left unglazed and the smooth and fine porcelain body is revealed. The base was inscribed in ink, 'Guihai nian, Shao ? (rubbed off) Gong zhi', ordered by Mr Shao? in year Guihai (AD1863). Part of his name was rubbed off due to wear and tear. It was most probably a fish pot in a virtuous home at that time. Provenance: a fengshui waterpot of a distinguished garment manufacturer who must sell it because he has too many waterpots. Date: AD1863; Width: 23cm; Height: 13.4cm; Condition: perfect. | |||||||||||||||
