A very fine 17th century bronze censer. Of attractive compressed form supported on three short feet with rounded tip, with two elegantly curved bridge-form handles, casted of a dense purplish brown bronze of good quality, with thick patina, casted on the base with a 16 characters mark 'Daming Xuande wunian jiandu gongbu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao' which means 'Made by Wu Bangzuo, the Director of the Imperial Workshop, in the fifth year of the Ming Xuande reign'. Date: 17th century; Width: 16.5cm; Conditions: excellent with minor metal corrosion inside.
