This is a great example of the British-Australian sword bayonet (Mark I), which was designed to be used with the short magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifle. The Pattern 1907 bayonet was used by the British and Commonwealth forces during the First and Second World Wars.

In 1913, the "Machete Bayoneta Modelo 1913" was adopted to replace the knife bayonet identified as M1893. However, when the M1916 short rifle was adopted in 1916, the M1913 bayonet became designated for use with the M1916 short rifle instead.
