Each seated on a shaped rectangular plinth, the backs set with tall taper holders painted in green ochre and aubergine glazes, with opened mouths and long flowing manes and tails, moveable eyes.
CONDITION: one of the lions has an old repair (horizontal crack across the upper body) and two minor chips...

A pair of antique Chinese 19th century Qing Dynasty very finely carved hard-wood buffalo groups, each carved with a boy and infant seated on the back of a water buffalo, inlaid with ornately twisted metal wire on its integral elaborately carved base.
CONDITION: The Sculptures are in very good overall condition except for one chip on the corner of the base of one of the figures. The surface of the wood is covered by very old dark varnish with the structure crumbled from age...

Antique Chinese late 18th century (Qing Dynasty) extremely well hand carved white stone sculpture of Guanyin mounted to an elegant rosewood stand. Kwan Yin is sited in dhyanasana on the throne and wearing elaborated loose-fitting robes and a Chinese –style head dress with cowl over the top-knot with mandorla. Guan Yin is the bodhisattva of compassion, revered by Buddhists as the Goddess of Mercy. Her name is short for Guan Shi Yin...
