DETAILS: circular convex form shield made of rhinoceros hide, lacquered in black with four star steel bosses at the centre affixed on the outer surface by velvet hand cushion four iron rings with velvet straps for holding the shield, two holes near the rim for the string (missing) to hold the shield around the shoulders.

Late 19th century French Cuirassier's helmet which had been captured by Germans and which was incorporated with a German miner badge plate with the cipher "EL" and then used as a parade miner helmet in the city Biberach Riss. The brass skull of the helmet is with a brass crest and Medusa's head, and is with the original black horsehair tuft. Leather-backed brass chinscales with rosettes complete with its original leather lining...
