SOLD--Antique 18th century Indian Madu (Maru, Singuata) pry and thrusting Buckler / shield. The shield consists of a pair of antelope horns (Chinkara) mounted parallel, with the points outwards on the back of the small circular convex form steel buckler cover with brass pierced and chiseled with perching birds among flowers on the floral and creeper ground with four star bosses at the centre. The Madu was a weapon favored by the Marathas usually wielded in the left hand, with a spear, dagger, or sword held in the right. REFERENCES: 1) "Arms and Armour Traditional Weapons of India" by E.
