SOLD Antique 18th century Polish Palash Sword Blade with 19th century Cuirassier mounting. DETAILS: A straight robust blade of flattened – hexagonal section, flattened out towards the point, formed with a very short ricasso, cut with a pair of broad fullers, engraved on both sides with a motto in broken Latin "NO ME SAPVES SIN RAZON" translation in Polish "Nie Dobywaj Mnie Bez Racji". According to the book, "Bron w Dawnej Polsce" by Zdzislaw Zygulski page 278, such mottos were very common on 18th century Polish swords, as a matter of fact, a very similar Palash blade with exactly the same motto engraved in the same manner, a Polish Hussar sword Palash, is in the collection of the Russian Museum, which is published with color photographs in the Russian edition of the Book, "Polish Sword" by Wlodzimierz Kwasniewicz. We will provide the buyer with a copy of the page from the mentioned reference, together with a certificate of authenticity.
