Antique 19th century superb quality Islamic Indo Persian Afghan Sword. A "D" shaped brass stirrup hilt with a compressed shamshir style pommel, a sturdy knuckle bow pierced with two slots, and a short down curving rear quillon, fitted with chequered bone grip-scales retained by two rivets. A broad slightly curved single edged steel blade of kilij form with yelmen, cut with two full-length fullers decorated with etched foliage marked on both sides of the forte with the Star of David. With its original leather-bound wooden scabbard with a large brass chape and locket with a suspension ring.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 80 cm (31 1/2 in), length without the scabbard: 76 cm (30in), length of the blade: 63.5 cm (25 in).
CONDITION: In very good condition considering its age, retaining most of its original polish, with some slightly pitted areas.
This is the best quality sword of this pattern which we have seen, the pictures are blurry and do not show the quality of the sword, which in fact looks much better than in the pictures.
