| Flyssa, the national sword of the Kabyles tribe of Algeria and part of Morocco. This type of sword was used to break open chain mail, which was still worn in that part of the world in the 19th century. The sword is hand chiselled and has brass inlay on the blade and a typical bird's head handle. The scabbard is made of elaborately carved wood held together by metal bands. The Long, single-edged blade with a straight back is 33 1/8 inches long. Overall length: 37 ½ inches. | |||||||||
