| This is a WWII period Katana in Gunto mounts. The Gunto mounts are typical and original. The Tsuka (handle) is 10” long. The Ito (handle wrapping) is very tight and is original, the manuki is as well original, the Same (rayskin) is excellent. The black wooden Saya (scabbard) is 28 ¾” long, with the complete and original hanger. The leather cover is missing. The blade is Ubu (original length) with one punched hole and in good polish. The blade is signed in Japanese characters. The Nakago (tang) is 7 ¾” long. The blade is 24 ½” (62.5 cm) long from the Munemachi to the Kissaki (back notch to point) with a Sori (curvature) of 14mm. This very sharp blade has an excellent and beautiful wave Hamon (temperline) which extends into the Boshi (point area). No staining, no rust, no pitting but some nicks (near the tip of the blade).
