| Dervish sword Kaskara, 19th century, from period - time of the Mahdi (Mohammed Ahmed 1848-85) revolutionary insurrection against colonial rule in Sudan. The Double-edged blade is engraved on both sides with Arabic calligraphy. The cross guard is made of brass, the wooden hilt with covering from crocodiles hide. The unusual crocodile tail scabbard is with two companion daggers. The sword is in good condition. Overall length; 30 inches. | |
