| 18th century Indo Persian shield Dhal- Separ made of steel decorated with gold and silver damascening. The shield is decorated with human figures in Persian costumes and around the shield on the border is calligraphic writing inlaid by silver. The workmanship is excellent, the shield is well hammered and the surface is nicely smooth. The border is made of brass and riveted to the steel. In the center are four bosses, and rings on the back of the shield for rope – to hold the shield. Diameter; 19 ½ inches, 5 inches deep. | |||||||
