| Authentic antique historic US Civil War American Confederate Infantry officer sword Made by Wilhelm Walscheid Solingen hi is listed as the dealer exporting swords to Confederate in References; Confederate Arms By William A Albaugh III and Edward N.Simmons Page 273 American Swords and Sword Makers by Richard H.Bezdek, Chapter 32 European Sword Makers and Dealers Who Exported Swords to Confederate Dealers during the Civil War .Page 449.The cast brass hilt and the pommel of the sword is decorated with lives & flowers the wooden grip is covered by black painted canvas. A heavy solid steel blade with brad fullers is stamped on ricasso W. Walscheid Solingen , On the reverse side is a gold circle marked “PROVED” The scabbard is made of tin metal with brass fittings. Condition; sword is in good condition except for same pitting on the point of the blade and dents to the scabbard. Overall length: 38 ¾ inches (85.7cm) | ||||||||||||
