|An exceptional 18th century Caucasian Islamic sword - shamshir made in a traditional Persian manner. Details: the curved single edged blade with fullers is made of Damascus steel and is carved on both sides of the forte with ornaments in low relief, the hilt is with black horn grips, a steel pommel and a long steel crossguard chiseled with floral patterns enclosed by knob finials. The Damascus pattern of the blade is typical for Caucasus and can be seen very often on Caucasian Kindjal blades. These types of swords were used in Caucasus and also in Russia during the period time of the 17th-18th century, long before the emergence of the Shashka type hilts. The sword has a very good balance. Measurements: overall length: 34 ¼ inches (87.cm), length of the curved blade in a straight line: 29 inches (73,8cm). Condition: the sword is in a very good condition.|
