A large Indian shield Dhal, 18th century. DETAILS: circular convex form shield made of rhinoceros hide, lacquered in black with four star steel bosses at the centre affixed on the outer surface by velvet hand cushion four iron rings with velvet straps for holding the shield, two holes near the rim for the string (missing) to hold the shield around the shoulders.
