Authentic 18th - 19th century Russian Asiatic sword 'Shashka' from the former Russian Empire. Details: slightly curved single edged blade with one short central fuller and one narrow fuller by the upper back edge, the ricasso decorated with hand chiseled floral spays, hilt with dark brown wooden grip-scales and hooked bifurcated pommel, with its original black leather covered wooden scabbard.
MEASUREMENTS: the overall length without scabbard 89,5 cm (35 ˝ in). CONDITION: the blade is slightly pitted and bend, with a crack in the middle of the blade. REFERENSES: A similar sword is published in “The Lyle Official Arms & Armour Review 1983” page 114 identified as Caucasian Shasqua. These types of Shashka were also used by the Russian Central Asian Cossacks. Reference: “Lebedynsky (3)” page 75 & 76.
