18th century oil on canvas portrait representing a high rank officer of the American Revolutionary War, possibly a General. DETAILS: he is wearing a wig and is dressed in red uniform, a coat with a gold bullion epaulet and gold embroidered General distinctions on the front and on the cuffs, typical of a style worn by many British and American officers during the Revolutionary War. The reverse of the canvas bears three stamps which unfortunately are too difficult to read. Judging by the outstanding details, and how realistically it is executed, this portrait must have been done by a master. The painting is framed in a beautiful gilded antique frame which unfortunately is chipped all over.
CONDITION: The painting is in good condition considering its age except for some old minor restoration of a patch on the back. No modern repaint were performed to the painting. MEASUREMENTS: Including the frame 96,5 cm x 84,5 cm (38 in x 33 1/4 in) without the frame 76 cm x 63,5 cm (30 in x 25 in).
