Rare Antique 18th century 1765 pattern Austro Hungarian saber of a senior non-commissioned officer of the "Prima Plana "infantry. Details: A typical 18th century eastern European hussar style brass stirrup hilt merging into cross-shaped langets, a plain back-strap rising up to form a maned lion head pommel and retaining its original wooden grip bound with cord and covered with leather. With a broad slightly curved single edged blade cut with a broad full-length fuller on both sides and the back point. In its original black lacquered leather scabbard with brass chape and locket with heart-shaped hanging lug. This particular model of sword was used by the Austrian Grenadiers thru the Napoleonic wars.

MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 89.5 cm (35 1/4 in), Overall length without the scabbard: 87 cm (34 1/4), length of the blade: 73.5 cm (28 7/8 in). CONDITION: The sword is in good condition considering its age with minor wear.
