Antique American Trade Gun Pistol, 18th century
$2500

A very rare antique late 18th Century American Trade Gun Pistol converted from flintlock to percussion in the early part of the 19th Century. Details: A steel barrel beautifully hand chiseled with foliage and retained by a low-grade silver muzzle band. A solid good quality steel lock with plate finely engraved with foliage. An attractive tiger-striped maple full stock decorated by a silver panel inlaid into the stock and retained by pins, most likely made by an Indian craftsman, cut and pierced in a pattern forming three stylized animals connected to each other, centrally is a turtle, and the small one near the brass pommel cap resembles a frog, and another one unidentified at the top near the barrel.
CONDITION: The pistol is in overall fine all original condition except for the broken end of the ramrod. All the parts of the pistol are original to the pistol. The stock is in very good condition with some minor handling marks and light dings. The lock needs adjustment, as the trigger does not release the hammer every time. The tiger-striped maple wood and silver inlaid work is very similar to decoration which can be seen on 18th century Kentucky rifles and presentation Pipe Tomahawks unrecognized.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 45cm (17 3/4 in).
