Hung-shan Culture and made about 5,500 to 5,000 years ago in the late Neolithic period. Neolithic inhabitants of eastern China believed in a mystical bird that brought the life of heavenly spirits to humanity. As a result, they carved images of this mystical bird from fine jade as a means of communication between people and the gods. Jade carved figure of a bird. Measuring approx. 8 x 6 x 2 inches.
