| The Plein Air Landscape painting on paper board signed Barrett offered here is of a Mountain top in a Desert, looking to the mountains in the Horizon. Again a beautiful and expertly executed Impressionistic work in Oil. Signed in blue, BARRETT in the lower left corner. The original framing is an off white stained or painted wood. Surely a Regionalist painting. The piece is straight from the Texas home of a 92 year old former owner. My research resources are limited regarding the Regional Artists so perhaps those more knowledgeable than I will recognize this Artist. The original framing is a light off white painted wood with some details. SIZE: framed 10" x 8-1/2"....painting 9" x 7". CONDITION: there is a very very light scratch in the blue of the Mountains in the background, otherwise the painting is in excellent original condition, with light edge wear to the frame. This painting was one of a pair, displayed togeather, painted and signed by the same artist. The size, age and technique is indicative of Plein Air painting of the 30's-early 50's. A fine vintage painting. Note about paintings: I buy original artwork from Estates and Individuals, not all are famous, although from time to time, yes, the names will be familiar to you, but these unknown early artists are as much a part of our American Heritage as any handmade Silver, Pottery or Literary creation by any talented Individual, so although of no proven Gallery value today, their Aesthetic value may one day place their yet undiscovered creator in the "Listed" group. Until then, perhaps they will touch you in some way, as they have me and continue to give pleasure for many more years. They are the visual "Journals" of our past. | ||||||||
