A pretty porcelain figure of Guanyin seated on a lotus 'throne' attractively painted with bright famille rose / fencai enamels. This item was probably made in south China during the reign of the Jiaqing Emperor (1796-1820). Condition - there has been extensive restoration and re-painting. The hands have been broken off and replaced. The head has been broken off and re-fixed and there has been another break to the middle. A very rare finely painted porcelain teapot decorated on each side with a scene depicting a scholar in a garden landscape. This item was made in China in the early 18th Century, probably during the reign of the Yongzheng emperor (1723-1735) . Condition - there is an 18th Century ( European) replacement handle; there is a chip to the spout and one to the cover (see enlargements 7and 8); there is a chip to the foot rim and an associated crack which runs across the base and 5cm up one side (please view enlargements 1,9 and 10).For many additional enlargements, please view 1tem #1528 in our partially constructed Liverpool shop website at 69aliverpool.co.uk . 11cm (4.3inches) high; 17.5cm (6.9inches) long.

On the base is a six character reign mark of the Kangxi emperor within a double circle which reads "Da Qing Kangxi Nian Zhi" ("Great Qing Kangxi Year Made). This plate was made in the late 17th Century, circa 1690, during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722). Unusually for a 'Mark and Period' piece this plate is a European shape and was probably made for export. A similar plate is to be found in the 1997 catalogue of S. An 18th Century white glazed porcelain figure of Budai, probably made in the Jingdezhen kilns, Jiangxi province, southern China.Condition - there is chipping to the left sleeve of his robe and a very small chip to the upper lip; no cracks and no restoration. 11.5cm (4.5 inches) high; 14cm (5.5inches) wide.

A rare and unusual turquoise glazed, pottery gu form altar vase. Its moulded decoration depicts two dragons amongst clouds on the upper section ; on the waist are two ruyi bands and on the unglazed lower section are two cash symbols and what appears to be a double gourd. The base carries an inscription which we have been unable to read. This item was made for the domestic market. In China turquoise objects (which were fired at low temperature with a glaze that was notoriously difficult to control) appear to have been used traditionally within a religious context as temple dedications and altar pieces. This vase was made in China (possibly in Shaanxi province) during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Condition - the body is completely intact with no chips, cracks or restoration but there is extensive old and recent glaze loss. Size: 20.8cm (8.2 inches) high.

A bronze Lion with its original dark patination made in China, possibly as a censer, during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644, most likely during the 16th or early 17th Century. Condition: there are some very old losses to the applied decoration - a part of the "beard" is missing,the right ear has been re-attached and the base has an old wood block infill; there has been no restoration. 14.5cm (5.7 inches)high; 14cm (5 inches) across.

A finely painted water colour , with gold leaf overlay, depicting a scene from the 11th Century classic "The Tale of Genji" written by noblewoman and lady-in-waiting Murasaki Shikibu. This item was made in Japan in the 19th Century during either the late Edo or the Meiji period (1868-1911). Condition: there is very minor "foxing" to the paper which probably predates the framing of this picture during the 1920s or 1930s. Frame: 32.5cm (12.75 inches) wide; 29cm (11.4 inches) high. Painting: 23.5cm (9.25 inches) wide; 20cm (7.9 inches) high.

A well modelled finely cast and carved seated bronze Buddha, with very dark old patination, made in Kandy (central Sri Lanka) during either the 18th or 19th Century. There is a very similarly styled figure currently on display on the ground floor of the Victoria and Albert Museum (London): No. IS.127-1964 (Given by Havelock Pinkey).

Condition: excellent - no damages or losses and no repairs or restoration. Only traces of the original gilding remain. Unusually the base plate is still intact.

A turquoise glazed faience Ushabti figure, of mummiform shape, made in ancient Egypt during the late period, circa 1069 - 332 BC. Provenance: from an old Merseyside collection. Condition: there is age degradation to the surface and the tip of the feet has been chipped off. 9cm (3.5 inches) long.

A heavy porcelain jardinere or plant holder very finely painted with flowering peony and other shrubs in shades of underglaze blue and standing on three Chinese Ming Dynasty style Lion head feet. This item was made in Japan during either the late 19th or early 20th Century. Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 21cm (8.25 inches) high; 31cm (12.25 inches) diameter.

An underglaze blue decorated porcelain coffee cup, painted with flowers and butterflies. This item was made in Jingdezhen, China, for export to Europe, during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795). Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 5.5cm (2.2inches0 high; 6.5cm (2.5inches) diameter.

斗彩描金人物兽耳六方瓶 估为清光绪 A rare finely decorated six sided vase painted in Chinese taste in underglaze blue with Doucai ("joined colours") overglaze polychrome enamels. This item was probably made in the first half of the 19th Century, circa 1800 - 1850 Condition - there is old over-sprayed over-painted restoration and a more recently restored chip to the same section of the rim; no further damages or restoration. 28cm (11inches) high. Weight - 1.5kg (3lb 6oz)

A small biscuit-fired turquoise, 'aubergine' and yellow glazed moulded stoneware figure depicting Wen Chang (文昌王), the Chinese god of culture and literature, seated on an acanthus leaf throne. This item was probably made for a home altar (possibly in Shanxi province) in the 16th or early 17th Century, during the second half of the Ming dynasty. Condition: the head has been broken at the neck and reglued and there are firing losses to the aubergine enamels at the back; there are no further damages and there has been no restoration. 14cm (5.5 inches) high.

素胎压模炻器文昌星坐像，表面施有松石蓝、茄紫和黄色釉。

应是作于明代下半叶16世纪至17世纪初（可能为山西省），用于家中祭拜。

A figure of a soldier or guardian figure finely cast in bronze (using the lost wax method) and made in Benin, Nigeria, during the 19th or early 20th Century. Provenance: from an early to mid 20th Century North West of England collection. Condition: there is a production crack running down his back from the left ear to the top of the left leg and part of the item he is holding in his right hand may be missing. 18cm (7 inches) high. A large bamboo 'vase', inset with carved ivory and mother of pearl, depicting two Samurai warriors. This item was made in Japan, for export, during the late 19th or early 20th Century. **This item is On Hold**A white porcelain "Blanc-de-Chine" Buddhist Lion incense stick holder in similar style to the larger Guardian Lions which are frequently to be found at the entrances to Buddhist temples. These were probably originally made for domestic home altars and were among the first items to be exported to Europe from China as decorative objects. This item was made in the kilns of Dehua, Fujian Province, South China ,circa 1640-1660, and exported to Europe during the middle of the 17th Century. For a very similar example please see catalogue # 90 in "Blanc de Chine - Porcelain from Dehua a catalogue of the Hickley Collection, Singapore" by Rose Kerr & John Ayers. Condition: one old 3cm hairline to the base; no further damages, no losses and no restoration. 16.8cm (6.5inches) high.
