A rare bombe form bronze censer with lion mask handles and with traces of gold-splashed decoration. The base carries the six-character reign mark of the Xuande emperor (1426-1435) but this item was made later, probably during the late 16th or early 17th Century. This censer is from the collection of a British architect who was born in China and lived in Shanghai. It came to the UK with him in 1931. Condition - excellent - no damages and no repairs. 15.5cm (6.1 inches) across; 5cm (2 inches) high. Weight 0.84kg (1lb 13.5 oz).

一件稀有的兽耳铜香炉，表面有残余的镀金斑的痕迹。底有“大明宣德年制”六字款，但为后世约16世纪末17世纪初所做。这件香炉是一位英国建筑师的旧藏。他出生于中国，曾旅居上海，1931年他带着这件香炉回到英国。

A rare, very finely painted, Landscape Vase decorated in Yongzheng / Qianlong style (c1725-1750) but, because we have been unable to find any early 18th Century vases in this shape, we have reluctantly concluded that this item was probably made later, circa 1800-1850. Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 18cm (7inches) high. Weight 300gm (11oz).

A twin-handled bronze censer. The base carries the six character reign mark of the Xuande emperor (1426-1435) but this item was made later, possibly during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722). This censer is from the collection of a British architect who was born in China and lived in Shanghai. It came to the UK with him in 1931. Condition - very good - there are minor surface bumps and abrasions (most noticeable on the base next to the reign mark - please view enlargements 4, 8 and 9); no further damages and no repairs. 9cm (3.5 inches) high; 16cm (6.3 inches) across. Weight 1.4kg (3.5lb).

一件双耳三足铜香炉，底有“大明宣德年制”六字款，但约作于清康熙年间。这件香炉是一位英国建筑师的旧藏。他出生于中国，曾旅居上海，1931年他带着这件香炉回到英国。

A rare pale greenish jade, Ming dynasty, brush washer with finely carved hardwood stand. This item was made during late 16th / early 17th Century, probably during the reign of the Wanli emperor (1573-1619). Condition - very good - there a chip to a petal of the flower at centre of enlargement 7 - no further damages and no restoration. 10cm (3.9 inches) across.

A finely carved and very well patinated bamboo bitong (brushpot) decorated with Song dynasty style landscape design and still retaining some of its original dark lacquer covering. This item was made for the scholar's table during the 17th or early 18th Century. Condition - there is age related wear and cracking (with some old glue infill) but no losses and no restoration. 15cm (6 inches) high; 10cm (3.9 inches) across.

A rare 18th/19th Century carved agate snuff bottle with, possibly later, silver and rose quartz stopper. On the stopper is inscribed the Shanghai silversmiths "Wen Yuan" who are recorded as having traded from the Jiaqing (1796-1820) reign through until the Republic period (1912- 1949). Condition - excellent - there is a shallow chip on top, next to the mouth (please view enlargement 11) no further damages and no restoration. 5cm (2inches) high; 4.8cm (1.9 inches) wide.

A large, well carved bamboo, wood figure group depicting three boys at play with a buffalo and her calf. This item was made in China circa 1750-1850 during the mid Qing dynasty. Condition - very good - there is a chip to the buffalo's hoof (please view enlargement 8) and the old lacquer covering shows wear and flaking in places; there has been an old repair to the leaf held by the boy (please view enlargement 5). There are no further losses or restoration. 25cm (10.9 inches) high; 15cm (6 inches) long; 14cm (5.5 inches wide).

A large and heavy European shape serving dish decorated in underglaze blue with deer, bamboo and pine trees in a river landscape. This item was made in China for export, circa 1750, during the reign of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795). Condition - there is a well restored rim chip with associated 5.5cm (2.2inch) hairline (please view enlargements 5 & 6) and there are minor glaze imperfections. 36cm (14.1 inches) across.Weight 1.1 kg (2lb 7oz)
