A small twin-handled bronze censer with a large six character Ming dynasty Xuande mark to the base but made later during either the 18th or 19th Century. This item is from the collection of a British architect who was born in China and lived in Shanghai. It came with him to the UK in 1931. Condition: excellent - no damages. 8cm (3.1 inches) diameter; 5cm (2 inches) high. Weight 180gm (6 oz).

A red domino cup and saucer in the Stylecraft shape designed by Jessie Taite in 1953 and produced until the early 1960s by Midwinter pottery, Staffordshire, England. Condition: very good - no damages and very little wear. Cup: 7cm (2.5 inches) high; 8.3cm (3.2 inches) diameter. Saucer: 14.6cm (5.7 inches) 'diameter'.

Sold in our Liverpool shop - July 2014 / 利物浦店内售出 - 2014年7月 

AA carved soapstone figure depicting a reclining Scholar; holding a fan in his right hand. This item was possibly made as an object for the Scholar's table and was made in China in the Qing dynasty, probably during the second half of the 19th Century (circa 1850-1900). Condition: a 2.5cm area appear to have been chipped away (in front of the fan and below his right knee)- please view enlargements 5, 6 & 7; and there are small spots of red paint in places. 6.3cm (2.5 inches) high; 7.6cm (3 inches) long.

A 'bronze' censer (copper zinc alloy with iron impurities) with a six character Ming dynasty Xuande reign mark (1426-1435) to the base but this item was made later, probably during the late Qing dynasty (circa 1890-1910). condition: very good - no damages,losses or repairs. 9cm (3.5 inches)across; 6.3cm (2.5 inches)high. Weight: 260 grams (9 oz).

A 'bronze' (copper zinc alloy) hand warmer decorated, we think, with scenes from the "Xi Xiang Ji" - a Yuan dynasty (1279-1368) story known in the west as "The Romance of the Western Chamber ". The pierced cover depicts two dragons amongst stylized clouds in pursuit of a pearl. On the base is the six character reign mark of the Ming dynasty Xuande emperor (1426-1435) but this item was made later, probably in the 20th Century, during the Republic period (1911-1949). Condition : excellent - no damages and no repairs. 12cm (4.7 inches) high; 16.5cm (5.5 inches) high with handles raised; 14cm (5.5 inches) wide. A wheel thrown transfer printed and hand painted double-handled "Loving" Chamber Pot made as a novelty wedding gift "Marrige Present", circa 1840, in either Sunderland or Staffordshire. Condition : there is a re-glued old break to one handle; and there is a curved crack to the rim on the underside which is less shorter on the upper side and does not reach the rim (please view enlargements 6 & 7); no further damages and no restoration. 21.5cm (8.5 inches) diameter; 13cm (5.2 inches) high.
