A carved sandstone Khmer relief fragment in (Mahayana Buddhist) Angkor Wat style depicting a Buddha head under two parasols, flanked by a pair of fans and mounted on stand. This item was carved in what is now Cambodia, probably during the reign of King Jayavarman VII (1181–1215 AD). Condition - there are chips, the edges are damaged (please view enlargements) and there is weathering and associated iron oxidation to the surface. 56cm long; 35cm wide; 18cm deep. Please note: we regret that, because this item is very heavy and difficult to post, we will be unable to ship internationally.
