An exquisitely carved ivory umbrella handle depicting three monkeys at play. The base is signed. This item was made, circa 1890-1910, during the Meiji period. There is the usual yellowing and age related cracks. The 'skeleton' of the umbrella is without fabric and this item is being sold either for renovation or for the handle.
