| A very finely decorated vase in an unusual and unconventional variation of the double gourd form. The base is signed Ping Shan - a name used by Wang Yeting (1884-1942) who was famous in Jingdezhen during the Republic period as a Fencai landscape painter. The inscription is entitled - "River and Mountain After Rain" and is dated "1st half of the eighth month of the year 1925". It then reads "Yeting Wan Ping drew at the studio which is called Ping Shan Cao Tang". In our opinion this item was possibly made later - during the second half of the 20th Century. Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. Height - 21cm (8.25 inches). | |||||||||||||||
