ENGLISH Hallmarked ~ DESK TAPERSTICK ~ Lilypad T&P 1831
A truly charming antique English sterling silver taper candlestick holder. It would have been a desk accessory, the flame used for melting sealing wax. A three part piece including; candlestick, snuffer and bobeche. The base is repousse worked in a lily pad form, the socket with grapes & leaves, the snuffer with leaves & blossoms. Nearly a miniature, it measures 2 inches in height and 2 1/2 inches across. The base is fully hallmarked for Sterling, year 1831/1832, reign of William IV, and with the maker's mark of Taylor & Perry, Birmingham silversmiths and smallwork specialists. A very fine example of an uncommon item and in excellent condition.
