 Bella Coola "Nuxalk" Shaman's Rattle
1880-1890 Central British Columbia Vibrant paint (original) and crisp carving make this rattle an excellent example of a Shaman's rattle. Used in ceremony and potlatches, indicative of Northwest coast tribes. The rattle, clearly used, has had it's handle foreshortened over prolonged use. 13 in. (33 x 10 cm.)
