| Copernican planetarium model to illustrate terrestrial and lunar revolutions around the Sun. On bronze base decorated with dolphins, the rotation axis is topped by a figure representing the Sun. Around the axis rotate the globes representing the Earth and Moon. The device can be hand-operated by means of a gear system to simulate the motions of the celestial bodies. The terrestrial globe is signed Zémecoule, Vydalu, J. Felklasyn, Roztoky U Prahy. Continental work, Prague, 19th century. Condition, the rotation axis was repaired, see detailed photographs. Measurents: base 15.7in (40cm) large by 9.8in (25cm) deep, diameter of Sun 5.1in (13cm), diameter of the terrestrial globe 3.3in 8.5cm, total height 22.2in (56.5cm). | |||||||||||||||
