One side depicts a gentleman reading books with his friend in the private garden, there is a maid serving the tea and snacks, and another guest is coming under a guard's lead. This matching pair of cream jug and sugar bowl have a circular form.
Each piece has six panels of embossed and chased decoration including cherry blossom and bamboo designs displayed over a matte background.
To the centre of one panel of each piece is a vacant shield shaped cartouche.
