| A beautiful carving of a Buddhist celestial lion, a common motif before the advent of the ever present "Dog of fo". Although jade carvings are hard to date we are comfortable placing this between the early Republic to 1950's, as the carving doesn't have the "scratched out" appearance that 19th century jade pieces all seem to have. Carved in a large piece of blue/grey celadon jade weighing 190 grammes and measuring 8cm X 4.5cm. As with all our jade we have tested this item and it shows as high quality nephrite jade with a SG of 2.90+... Would make a stunning center-piece of any jade collection and we have priced at a highly competative level, a very similar piece sold recently at Christies for around £15000!!(Sale 7762 lot 19) A stunning piece for any jade collector.
