This very colorful example of a fish dish is done in underglaze cobalt blue with over glaze red and gold. It is 9 & 6/8’s inches long by 6 & ½ inches wide. It had a typical false Ming mark alluding to high quality. The high applied foot rim shows a distinct orange color from the firing process. Koi fish were highly prized in Oriental culture. This rare shallow dish features a man sitting of a rug with a fan while playing a Koto (Japanese stringed instrument). I’m not sure but the figure and inscription may refer to Yatsuhashi Kengyô who is a famous Japanese Kyoto musician who died in 1685. Other elements include a flowering Lotus, pine trees and an inscription. It is measures 8 1/8 inches across, with no chips cracks or any other damage. It is signed but I’m not sure what the characters mean.

This wonderful pair of “mirror image” cloisonné vases date from around 1900. They are both signed with the Buddhist bell stamp. They are about 12 inches tall. As you can see in the one picture one has a 4 inch long crack on the back. On the same vase the bronze collar on the inside of the lip has slipped down a fraction of an inch. The other vase is in very good condition with no damage. Each vase depicts iris flowers and bitter melon fruit against a graduated pale blue wireless enamel. The s ...click for details

This highly figuratively designed teakettle is signed and complete with its original cast bronze trivet. The detail is just amazing as you can clearly see in the photographs. It is in excellent condition with one small flaw. The very tip of the tail on the dragon fly finial is broken (see the last picture). I cannot read the signature but this was clearly made by a master craftsman who was very proud of his workmanship. It measures a total of 11 inches high. The pot and lid measure eight and ...click for details

$435.00

This deep bowl has an elaborate fierce white dragon with seven men around it. The workmanship is exceptional as you can easily see in the pictures. It measures 4 ¾ inches across by 2 inches high. It’s a very unusual shape and the designs include two Shimazu mon’s (family crest). The signature is the most elaborate of any piece I have ever had. There is some ware to the gold and the top edge is slightly rough because of the way the inside design was pained to the very edge. Please let me k ...click for details

This fabulous set includes a total of 27 pieces all with the maple leaf design. None are chipped or cracked though some of the cups and saucers are stained from use. This can be clearly seen in the photographs. The creamer is missing its lid and there is no teapot. I’m selling this set for the cups and saucers and the price reflects this. Each saucer is just over 5 ½ inches by 7/8 inches high. The cups are 4 ¾ inches wide including the handle and 1 7/8 inches high. This is a very rare chance ...click for details

This beautiful Japanese incense burner stands almost 5 inches high. It’s top and feet as well as the two foo dog handles are gold gilded. The painting is very well executed. It is in excellent condition but it has no lid. The missing lid was most likely made of silver.
