|This spectacular Shudei-type Meiji period (late 19th century) umbrella stand needs to be seen in order to be fully appreciated. Reticulated Tokoname ware is very uncommon. This along with the gilding and elaborate detailing make this an exceptional example of this Japanese art form. Yet another uncommon feature is the very elaborate impressed seal which appears to be the artists signature. The stand is just under 24 inches tall. There are several small chips to the base and even smaller ones to the top rim. This is clearly shown in the photographs. There are no cracks or other damage.
