|Normally fish sets like this are either sterling silver or silver plate. This set is coin silver (I tested them with a silver test kit's nitric acid and the blades are solid coin silver). Another feature that makes them unique is that the silver openwork, the silver engraving and the eagles engraved on the ivory are all hand done, this makes each knife truly unique. From the hall mark stamped onto each knife they were made by William Hutton & Sons of Sheffield England between 1886 to 1893. I think they must have been a special order at the time they were made because of how unusual they are. Condition: The mahogany box is missing its brass emblem. The set is complete but the set shows wear and use from age. The top tray has been exposed to more light then the bottom tray. There are some cracks in the ivory.|
