Recollection of Kawanajima

This article represents The Battle of Kawanakajima, a legendary single combat between Uesugi Kenshin and Takeda Shingen.
It is the moment that Kenshin suddenly appeared from a rift in the fog and cut his way into Takeda's headquarters. The artist represents the scene energetically as if there are a real current of air in the painting.
In the painting, Kenshin is springing at Shingen with his horse, and Shingen is waiting for him with great composure. They were lifelong rival, and considered one another to be an influential person. That is the reason why the article itself has sense of romance despite the extremely tense scene.
Katsutoshi Toya is an artist who has described many articles with Sengoku Period theme. It is an impressive scene that vivid red Singen and blue Kenshin appeared from the fog lying over the Hachimanbara. This lithograph substantially replicates the original painting which is creating a unique atmosphere dew to iron powder.
