Unsigned, probably 19th century
Height: 1 in. (2.6 cm.)

Carved from the node of bamboo and using the natural form of the plant, the small netsuke depicts a face hidden under a hood, resembling that of Okame. The eyes and lips are highlighted with a little red and black lacquer, two small holes are carved on the right side of the hood to form the himotoshi.
