This pair of chairs made from elm wood is constructed with a slightly tilted crest rail making way to the well-matched splats, each with an openwork design at the top, in the middle a square carved in deep relief and the bottom with another scrolling design. Both the humpback shaped arms and rear stiles are carved with a pointed half scroll where they meet the seat frame. Finished with a double scroll at the center of the apron and the feet carved in horse-hoof style with single scrolls at each inner corner of the feet.
Wood: Northern Elm (Yumu)
Condition: In excellent condition with some wear, consistent with the age of the chair.
