| Qing Dynasty (19th century) Of the usual form, the lamp is carved from pink and clear glass and comprises three parts; a central bowl decorated with a band of key-fret set into a flat pierced stand raised on four feet carved in the form of bats. A large bell cut to the top sits over the ball, resting on the stand. For a similar example, see Claudia Brown and Donald Rabiner, 'Clear as Crystal, Red as Flame: Later Chinese Glass' (China Institute in America, NY 1990), cat. no. 68. H. 5 1/2 in. (14.2 cm.) Condition: good; the bowl has been forced in the stand and has cracked it, as can be seen in the photographs. The bowl cannot be easily removed, and we have not attempted to do so. Provenance: Sandford Gadient Collection Ref. 705579 | |||||||
