This is a very rare and finely rendered blue-green jade celt of plain form. It dates to the Costa Rican Nicoya and Guanacaste cultures, circa 50 BC - 50 AD. This piece was collected by the previous owner in the 1960's. Measures: Very Large! -125 mm (4.9") in length. Condition: Ancient wear to one side has exposed one suspension hole, though high polish evident on that edge indicates the polish happened in ancient times and the piece continued to be used after the exposure of the suspension hole had occurred. A solid, very nicely polished example. Provenance provided to purchaser. |
