| A very fine wood carved mask that was worn during Festivities when dignitaries visit the village. The carver did a beautiful job o carving because the coffer and scarification tattoos are done in very fine detail. Traces of Kaolin clay can be seen on this mask. There is still a mouth piece attached to the interior of the mask. For those who do not know what this if for, the dancer grips the wood in his mouth to keep the mask from falling off. A beautiful patina covers the surface of this mask. I do not remove or add anything to my art and they are as I get them. Standing 18" high on its custom made base the mask in it's self is 15" high 8 1/2" wide and 8" deep. It is on a 5 1/2 square metal base. A nice mask for any one's collection. I was told that this mask is from the middle 20th century | ||
