For the collector of fine cameos! A rare, large and lovely detailed portrait of Bacchus hand carved from conch shell. Encased in a handmade (acid tested) 14 Karat gold custom setting of leaves and flowers, with subtle, deep carving. All signs of a 19th Century piece, ca 1885-1900. The cameo itself is in perfect condition. However, the mounting bears signs that show it was formerly a brooch which was converted in the early 20th century into a pendant. See photos. Measures 1 7/8 inches high by 1.3/8 inch wide.

Very lovely and rare 19th Century pendant bearing an image of a heavenly angel adorned chalice in the clouds emitting a hemisphere engraved with the intitials: IHS. In high karat gold laminate. Signed initials in bottom right: FT or AT. Back of the medal is blank. Measures 3/4 inch diameter. Condition is mint. Original matte gold finish. Never worn, only saved. Please note this pendant is NOT being sold with a chain. However I do have available for additional purchase new solid 14K gold chains (the one in the photos) - 16 inch one for $90.00 or a 18inch one for $95.00. A wonderful heirloom gift . The gold content of of this medal and many other 19th Century French ones like it is unusual - to maintain the desired 20-22 karat yellow color, but still have a strong medal, they sandwiched 2 thick outside layers of the high karat gold with a stiffer non-gold metal (what kind I don’t know) in the middle. Similar to England’s Sheffield plate method of sandwiching a layer of copper between 2 outside layers of sterling silver. So, for the life of most people, the outer gold layers should not wear out, but because of the base metal middle layer, it does not pass the acid test for solid gold. Please see the other interesting religious items and crosses I have on my site. The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvièr in Lyon is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, who is said to have saved the city of Lyon from the plague in 1643. Renaissance theme of the Bard - a lute, a horn, sheet music, a rose, a cap and either a gourd or a traveling sack, against a hand stippled bronze background in this rare and unusual hand painted enamel in carved out bronze medal that is held in a 14 karat pink gold frame. 1.25 inch in diameter. Condition is great. Back is absolutely plain with a worn surface of true age. I’m guessing the final quarter of the 19th century, probably France.

Exquisite Beaux Arts style 14 karat gold Victorian lace pin with a central opal surrounded by five tiny enamel flowers within a larger design of five overlapping hearts! Truly exquisite hand sculpted 14 karat white gold chrysanthemum pendant set with 15 diamonds on the petals and a 10 point diamond imbedded in a carved black South Sea pearl. For a pearl to have nacre thick enough to carve, it has to be very very old and most likely natural. This piece is a tour de force of goldsmithing. Total diamond weight is approximately 1/4 carat. Hallmarked on the back 14K GALATEA. Although it did not originally come with this pendant, I am including a sterling silver wire collar so it can be worn immediately. This piece is Galatea style number 2121 and has a M.S.R.P. of $2795.00. I got this piece at a very good price and I am passing the savings on to you, because if I don’t, you would just as well buy it from the designer. Wonderful 14 K white gold and diamond Art Deco or Retro cocktail ring of sculpted leaves scattered with approximately 3/4 carat total weight of very fine sparkly varying size diamonds. The largest stone is about 20 points and the remaining 11 diamonds range from 2 to 5 points each. Size 6, but resizable. This ring is practically indestructible. The flat collet (aka bezel) settings of the diamonds make this custom made ring smooth to the touch. No prongs to scratch or snag on clothing. This setting also protects the stones so they will never fall out. Circa 1925 -1950.
