| The Huichol Indians live in the remote mountains of Nayarit and Jalisco, Mexico where they were untouched by the Spanish invaders. Each Huichol mask, in addition to being a beautiful work of art, has it's own historical and spiritual significance because the patterns reflect designs and images sacred to their cosmology where religion, life and art are inextricably intertwined. 11.5 inches by 6 inches at its widest, this carved wooden mask is coated in wax and painstakingly set with hundreds of tiny beads applied one at a time by means of a sewing needle or cactus thorn. It is in excellent condition except for the hanging ribbon which was imbedded into the back of the mask. See photos. | ||
