From our World Handicrafts Collection (ex-Asia), an extremely fine silver filigree boat from Cusco Peru, modeled after a Spanish Armada ship. The filigree here is exceptionally fine and intricate. The amount of painstaking and meticulous work that goes into crafting filigree of this scope and detail is really quite astounding, and rivals much of the best Indian filigree work we have seen. Cusco is a city on the outskirts of the famous Machu Pichu ruins, and has a wonderful culture of magnificent handicrafts production. This was the finest example we collected at the time.

Size and Condition: 11 inches from bow to stern, 10 1/2 inches to top of mast, 3 inches from port to starboard. This piece is actually almost 20 years old and its pristine looking condition belies its age: This is because we have kept this piece in a sealed display to prevent oxidation/patination of the silver, as we felt the silver for this piece looks best in this condition and chose to preserve it in this manner. The future buyer may choose instead to leave the silver exposed, it's a matter of personal choice, but at that point you should expect it to oxidize in the manner that silver ordinarily does.
