A Very Pretty Enameled Silver Box from Rajasthan
From our Indian Subcontinent Collection, a truly delightful little enameled silver box from Jaipur, Rajasthan (India), featuring a very attractively painted elephant in regal attire, executed in a very pretty turquoise blue against a background of an equally pretty purplish blue, with floral motifs in green and gold around the borders and on the sides, all executed upon high grade silver. There is a plethora of arts and crafts throughout the Rajasthan region, but the different cities there tend to have a few art forms in particular that they each excel at. Jaipur, the so-called "Pink City," seemed to excel at these enamel on silver creations, and we bought several of the best examples we could find. This is a colorful and joyful little box that gives one pleasure just looking at it.

Size and condition: 6 inches wide, 4 inches deep, 1 inch tall. Perfect condition.
