Monumental Renaissance-Style Equine Bronze

The artist Star Liana York is an internationally renowned sculptor, particularly of her equine series. This one is entitled "Tribute to Da Vinci," and is Star's homage to Leonardo Da Vinciís genius in re-creating the essence and majesty of a given subject. Da Vinci's series of drawings depicting horses in training and battle express the extraordinary power of these warhorses through their vibrant energy and musculature. Here, the exquisite beauty of line and composition juxtaposed with the warhorse's dramatic motion make for a passionate work of art. Its dimensions are, without base, 22 inches tall by 27 inches in length by 12 inches wide; it weighs ca. 60+ lbs. The present owner acquired this piece (from a sold-out limited edition of 35) directly from Star in Santa Fe in 2003. She lives in Abique, New Mexico, a few miles from Georgia O'Keefe's home. The attached photo is deceptive as to the patina, as mine is more a mottled greyish-brown (each model in the limited edition had a different, distinct patina). It rests on a revolving hardwood base with an attached brass plaque inscribed with the artwork's title and the artistís name. Given the weight, the buyer must assume the costs of postage, which will be accomplished pursuant to the buyerís preferences.
