| Katō Shō (1927-2001) was one of the best potters in Seto, winning an award in the Nitten exhibit in 1964 and being recognized as a Living National Treasure of the Aichi Prefecture, not a small feat at all (ranked just below Living National Treasures on National level). From the late 1980’s (biography included). His wares range from traditional to contemporary, this vase being a nice example depicting butterflies which he is famous for. Roughly 7 ½’ tall, 4 ¼” diameter. Glazed stoneware. Original signed box. Perfect condition for both. | ||
