| Iwabuchi Shigeya (1925-1995) apprenticed under two living National Treasures: Tomimoto Kenkichi and Kondo Yuzo. In 1955 he established Yuyu kiln in Kyoto and exhibited at major galleries and museums all over Japan, including the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo. Iwabuchi was also a teacher to many potters, including Richard Milgrim, Kishi Eiko and Kako Katsumi. This kogo is from 1985, and is shaped as two wheels from an ox cart, with a white flower on top. It is made for the Year of the ox (1985). Original signed box and artist’s biography (in Japanese) included. Glazed stoneware, signed on the bottom, in perfect condition. Height: 1 ¼’ (3.4cm), 2 1/2'” (6.6 cm) wide and 1 5/8” (4.3 cm) deep. | ||
