| Miyashita Zenju (1901-1968) was the father of Miyashita Zenji (1930-2012). Zenju was a famous Kyoto based potter, who had studied in Japan, China and Korea. Zenju was a central figure at the highly regarded juried Nitten annual exhibitions. This celadon like glazed small bowl (Hachi) is made to be used in a tea ceremony as kashiki (sweets bowl). 1 5/8” (4 cm ) tall, 7 5/16” (18.6cm) in diameter. This piece dates from the 1950s, it is enclosed in it's original signed box and with artist’s biography (in Japanese). It is in perfect condition. | ||
