Pair of humorous French table lamps. Circa 1950
$160 USD

Pair of French 50's table lamps created from Orclair cake icing tins
Fitted for electricity
Circa 1950

A wonderfully stylish pair of lamps. Made from large Orclair cake icing tins from the 50's.

The humorous design is of a poster man pasting advertisements for Orclair cake icing on a fence on which is written "DEFENSE D'AFFICHER LOI" (No Posters by Law). The posters he is pasting are actual advertisements that Orclair had used. During the 50's Patisfrance, the makers of Orclair, commissioned several well-known artists to create advertisements for their products. The advertisements here are by Jean Belus, Raymond Savignac, Bernard Aldebert, Raymond Ducatez, Albert Dubout, Germaine Bouret, and Jacques Faizant.

Height 14.5 in. to top of lampholder // 12 in. tin only
Diameter 7 in.

Please note that the shades shown in the photographs are not included in this sale.

Condition : Fair. As might be expected for items of packaging which were never intended to last, these tins have suffered a little, although not too badly. There are some rust spots, scratches, small dents and fading. The photographs here give a good impression of the overall condition which, given the aforementioned, is actually remarkably smart. The colours are generally bright. The lids have been repainted.

Shipping rates: USA/Canada $50 (total $210) // Europe/Scandinavia $30 (total $190) For destinations not included here, please enquire.
